Today was the last robotics team practice before the official Vex IQ season begins. We split into our two teams to continue building the Vex IQ robots we began last week. Both teams were able to complete their claw bots and had a chance to do some testing.
Robotics Club Practice Summary
The first thing we did today was discuss the upcoming season. The season begins right after winter break with our first match that Wednesday. This made it very important for the robotics club teams to complete their Vex IQ claw bots today. We will only have one practice once we come back from break to make modifications to the robots so they are ready to compete.
After our discussion the kids got to work and were able to test their robots. As they began to test them, a lot of the new team members noticed the flaws to this design that led to the modifications made last season. Claws easily fell off, the robots were unstable, and drive shafts easily fell out of motors.
Important Note to Parents
Parents, our first match is on January 7. I have not yet had word on which school the match will be held at. I will update you when I have more information. Monday the 5th is a very important practice as each team will have to have their design finalized and work out their strategy. We might run the practice a little late that day.
There is also a kick off for the robotics club happening on the 3rd. You are welcome to go if you are interested but I will not be there. I will send out an email on times and locations as soon as I know the information.
